2010 AFL CLUB E-DIARIES NOW LIVE!

You can stay “ahead of the game” with a new feature launched on the AFL Club sites, called E-DIARY.

E-DIARY allows you to easily download your favourite team fixtures, official club events and other important dates including player birthdays, direct into your desktop calendar, and devices.

Match / event entries will appear in the date pages, with details, reminders (set to preceding Tuesday), team graphics and ‘Quick Links’ direct to Tickets, TV, Facebook, Twitter, Dream Team, Bookings and more. You can even send a birthday message to your favourite player, direct from your diary (if you want!)

It’s very easy, safe and it’s free. E-DIARY is a simple file import, so no application downloads or plug-ins required. Plus there’s some good prizes on offer from some Clubs!

A great way to know exactly what’s happening at your favourite Club in 2010.

Go to your favourite Club website and look for the E-DIARY logo, or simply go to the e-diary website where they are all listed.

What is Scott Gumbleton Wearing ?

Scott GumbletonThere is a lot of hype around this guy, the great Kevin Sheedy raves about him and as an Essendon supporter I am just waiting to see if he lives up to all the expectations. Scott Gumbleton has had his fair share of injuries over the past few years and Bomber fans are eager to see him get out on the park and show what he can do.

Down at Bomber Land they are singing his praises so far during pre season and say he is on track for NAB Cup selection. On another point, WHAT THE HELL is he wearing, it reminds me of Seinfeld’s character Kramer and the manzier ! Can anyone enlighten me as to what it is and what is it’s intended purpose?

Leon Davis = DOWN HILL SKIER

DavisLet’s cut right to the chase here, Leon Davis is a FRONT RUNNER!
There are a couple of other Collingwood Football Club players that are in the same boat and are just not up to the pressure of Finals Football !. Collingwood will NEVER win a premiership with these players in their team.

Leon Davis, Alan Didak, Nick Maxwell and Travis Cloke are no good under the pressure of AFL Finals Football, or any big games for that matter.

Nick Maxwell, captain of Collingwood, is content with playing off his man, get him one on one and he is done for. He relies on being the third man up. He is no good in a one on one contest. This is an area that opposition teams in 2010 will exploit. Just not good enough in the big games. When needed to produce something he just goes missing.

Leon Davis, Allan Didak and Travis Cloke well what can you say, front runners, down hill skiers all of the above in my opinion. When the going gets tough they go missing !!!

When Collingwood are under the pump there is no one in that side that can lift them like a Lenny Hayes or a Nick Reiwoldt does for St Kilda.

Until Collingwood get some players that can perform under pressure they will never win games of football when it matters!

AFL versus “IT Geeks”

Well apparently we are not allowed to make any reference “to the AFL, images or the mention of associated football league clubs”. Mmm interesting. Fellow AFL Football blogger James Rose, has had a letter from the AFL demanding they stop using “AFL intellectual property”.

I am still awaiting my letter……..But for now I will continue on with all things AFL Football. Oops… Can I still say that?

The Most Irritating Players in The AFL

Last year I posted an article on my 7 most irritating players in the AFL. Today I posted a question on Twitter to find out some other people’s thought’s on the Most Irritating Players in the AFL and why. The good thing about Twitter responses are that they have to be short and to the point.

By the way Warren Tredrea still leads my list………Here are some other responses:

@Kick2Kick – Cornes x2 must be a SA thing as Pav is my other irrating player

@AndyCoffey – Collingwood :)

@UncyHerb – most times it’s Stephen “play on” Milne. But Fevola rates highly too.

@Fitikins – Shane Crawford- Sooky, sooky la la!
(not currently and AFL Player, but worth a mention)

@the_tony – It is so tempting to just say anyone in a Carlton jumper annoys me.

Who is your most irritating or annoying player?

Dear AFL Coaches – An Open Letter

2153436843_3192e0940c_m

Dear Coaches,

What is with “The Ugly Game” that looks like eventuating in Season 2009. So far during the 2009 NAB Cup we have been subjected to “The Rolling Zone” which in my opinion is nothing more than a flood!

Just because the Hawthorn Football Club won the premiership last year by employing this tactic does not mean you all have to COPY them! Why are there non of you you will simply devise a game plan that uses your sides strengths and not someone elses. Besides Hawthorn have had 4 years of doing this you are NOT going to beat them by playing the same way.

What is wrong with teaching players to actually kick the football and hit the target and run and carry the football through the zone? It amazes me that as AFL Coaches you can sit there and say that you are “worried” about the direction the game is going yet YOU are the ones that are employing these tactics…It does not make sense.

Surely you have some one in your side that can kick the football long and direct and hit a target so that it carries the zoning?

How about this for a sad stat – Eight Teams played in praccy games on the weekend and only 3, that’s right 3 could kick more than 9 goals for the entire game.

Calling All Local Football Followers

jonathanhay

As the 2009 season hots up and local football clubs around Australia swing into full pre season action, I thought I would call on all Local Football Followers to give their thoughts on local leagues, has anyone “High Profile” been recruited to your club or your league? Who is coaching who? Teams to beat? any or all of the above.

Leave a Comment below and let everyone know what is going on at your club or in your league.

There a stacks of local leagues and teams out there and it is always interesting to hear where people have ended up.

For instance we will be lining up against ex Kangaroo and Hawk All Australian player Jonathon Hay, who has been recruited to play for Langwarrin Football Club, who have been promoted to Peninsula Division on the Mornington Peninsula Football League. Aaron Fiora is lining up with East Ringwood this year after being delisted by the Tigers.

Click on the “Share This” link below, then on the Send / Email Tab and email this around to anyone and everyone you know that has something to do with local football around the country, so they can let everyone know about what is happening.

Ben Cousins Return to AFL Football

Well on Thursday we are going to witness the biggest NAB Cup game in the history of AFL Football when Collingwood take on Ben Cousins, oops I mean Richmond. We could possibly see the biggest crowd ever to a pre season game and is probably bigger news than the Aussies that appeared at the Oscars yesterday.

I had to laugh at this though, when a Channel 9 sports reporter was walking next to Ben Cuusins when he was entering Punt Road Oval for training (sipping on a Latte of course), the best he could come up with was “Are you looking forward to having a kick on Thursday?”. Cousins response was outstanding, he just laughed and kept waliking. Love it……

The Nick Maxwell Appeal – He Gets Off……

5maxwell

Well the much anticipated appeal from Collingwood Football Club on “that” Nick Maxwell bump has just been heard and the decision is that he is free to play in next weeks NAB Cup game.

Maxwell becomes the first player in AFL History to win an appeal under the new system…..Is this a sign of things to come? He becomes the first out of 11 players to go to the appeals board to win

Mr Terry Forrest QC, Maxwell and Collingwood’s advocate will be “The Man” when it comes to appeals from now on….

Quite extraordinary.

Will keep you all posted with any new developments.
