AFL Football Round 4 - Fremantle vs Tigers, Carlton vs Collingwood, Adelaide vs Hawthorn

AFL Football Round 4 - Fremantle Football CLubBoth Fremantle and Richmond will be disappointed with their starts to the season and Richmond were shocking against Collingwood last week and their game plan (if they have on) was non existant and the amount of handballs they had was laughable. In contrast the Fremantle side were impressive in their defeat of the West Coast Eagles last week. Docker fans and the coaching staff would have been impressed with the form of Rhyse Palmer last week which gained him a NAB Rising Star Nomination.

At Tiger land coach Terry Wallace has lost patience with Joel Bowden sending him back to Coburg. Jake King has been a shining light for the Tigers and the little man gives his all every time he goes out on the field, a few of the senior players need to take a leaf out of his book. Kane Petiffer will be missing due to suspension leaving the Tigers with 1 less option up forward. Nathan Brown has been disappointing to say the least and may find himself in the same boat as Bowden if he doesn’t pull his finger out. The Tigers just need to find some different avenues to goal and stop being so predictable with their entry into the forward 50.

The Docker will be far to good in this one, Dockers by 54 points.

Carlton vs Collingwood

Why this game was not scheduled last week I have no idea. Now this is a game of traditional rivals. Carlton are AFL Football Round 4 - Matthew Kruezerin danger of breaking it’s all-time consecutive losing streak of 14 - set over a century ago during the 1901-02 seasons and would not be something that this group of player would want to be remembered for. The Magpies enter the game with some good form after demolishing the Tigers last week with forward Paul Medhurst enjoying a run of good form. Lat week he managed 24 disposals, three goals in what was probably his best game for the club. Anthony Rocca and Travis Cloke are forming a good partnership and Leon Davis is playing well. Scoot Burns will notch up his 250th game this week and the Magpies will be out to make it a memorable day for the new skipper.

For the Blues, superstar full forward Brendan Fevola has hit some form and young Nathan Brown will no doubt get the job. Another huge test for the youngster. The Blues defense is a worry in this game and I just don’t think they will be able to handle the potent Collingwood forward line. I don’t think it matters how well Chris Judd plays if the rest of the midfield are not contributing then all it is doing is giving Judd Brownlow Votes. Nick Steven was OK for 3 quarters last wee bu went missing in the last as did a lot of his teammates. I just don’ think the Blues can match the Pies in this one. Collingwood by 37 points.

Adelaide vs Hawthorn

AFL Football ROund 4 - Chance BatemanWell this shapes to be the best game of the Round with these two teams playing some ripping football. The Hawks will welcome back Wayne Shane Crawford for his first game for the year while Chance Bateman brings up his 100th game. The Hawks have a brilliant forward line that will take some containing, Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead, Tim Boyle, Cyril Rioli all are playing well and will need to be contained if the Crows have a chance to win this one. Nathan Bock, Ben Rutten, Nathan Bassett or Scott Stevens will be in line to take Buddy and will probably all get a go. Nathan Bassett, Jason Porplyzia and Jon Griffin are all in line to play after suffering injuries last week and the Crows will need them all to play.

If The Crows can contain the Hawk forwards and continue to play their running, attacking game then they may just give the Hawks a shake. But the Hawks play well down in Tassie and are in great form. This will be an exciting contest and a hard one to pick, but I like the Hawks down there in a thriller by 4 points.
