AFL Football Round 6 Preview - Part 2
Here is a good fact If The Bulldogs win this week, it will be the first time they’ve been undefeated after six rounds since 1946, when they won the first nine games of the season. They should just do that against the West Coast Eagles this week. Th Eagle are in strife and even with a few milestones they just can’t get over the line in this one. Daniel Kerr and Andrew Embley on track to play their 150th games, while John Worsfold will rack up 150 games as a coach.
The Bulldogs are playing some good footy and the Telstra Dome track suits them down to the ground. Adam Cooney, Daniel Cross, Ryan Griffen and Lindsay Gilbee have been in good nick and will again be the key for the Doggies. Scott West comes back in at the expense of Jarrod Harbrow and will add some in and under football to the middle. For the Eagles they have brought in Staker, Ebert, Kennedy and Schofield and Fletcher, Nicoski, Seaby and Spangherdid not make the trip. You will think that Matthew Boyd will get the job on Daniel Kerr again being tagged heavily. Something that the Eagles are struggling with, they just find any other mid fielders to step up and help. The Doggies have a strong on ball brigade and will be all over them.
Goal scoring options is a concern for the Eagles, but Ben McKinley has been a find and will be a good player. It can’s just be left up to him and the Big Q Stick needs to pull his finger out. The Doggies should run away with this one,
I am tipping the Dogs by 34 points.
Tough Hard Battle Ahead
The Kangaroos Swans game should be a beauty. The Roos had an outstanding come from behind win against the Colligwood Football Club last week and Brent Harvey lead the way again with 34 touches. He in some hot form at the moment and Keiran Jack will have a big afternoon if he can curb his influence. Kennelly, Mathews and White come in for the Swans but no outs yet. For the North Melbourne side in comes Sinclair, Swallow, Hansen, Sansbury and S.Thompson out goes Pratt (suspended) and Brown (hand). Both these teams will certainly know they have played a game of footy after this one and it will be a tough game of footy. The Swans just could not find a forward target last week with Davis, O’Keefe and O’Loughlin all being well held. The Kangas will be looking to do the same this week. On the other hand North Melbourne have a strong forward at the moment with Thomas, Wells, Edwards, N.Thompson and Jones all capable of kicking some quick goals.
This game has the potential to turn into a strangulation game to see who can negate the opposition more. Both teams are good at it but they have also shown they have the capabilities of scoring quickly. Should be an interesting game. I am going to go for North Melbourne here in a tight one 9 points.
How Far The Hawks
Although the Tigers are playing some good football at the moment they will get a big reality check this week when the hit the inform Hawthorn and “Buddy Love”. I really can’t see a match up for him this week and is likely to have a huge day out. The Hawks forward line is awesome Crawford, Franklin, Bateman, Rioli, Roughead and Williams will be hard to stop this week.
Richo has been good up the ground and will need to take the game by the scruff of the neck if they are any chance here. Nathan Foley needs to get on top at stoppages but it will be made difficult as the Hawks are masters in that area. No outs yet for the Hawks but they have brought in McGlynn, Morton and Stokes to the squad. For The Tigers again no outs as yet and have brought in Collins, Bowden and Jackson to the squad. I think Bowden may get another week in the VFL, he may just get chopped up but The Hawks forwards the way he plays.
The Hawks will be far to good here and the Tigers will be brought back down to earth. Hawks by 60 points.
