AFL Football Round 7 Preview – Part 1

A big inclusion this week for the Bombers as the Daniher name get to run around the park again. This time Darcy Daniher will make his debut for the Bombers. The Bombers have lef tout Fletcher (groin), Winderlich (groin), Ramanauskas (gastro), Reimers (foot) and brought in Daniher, Myers, Atkinson, Bellchambers, Hislop, Jetta, Neagle, Johnson.

For The Power Chad Cornes is the only out at the moment as the game in on Sunday and have brought in Gray, Lonie, Lower, Stewart. After a promising start to the season the Bombers are finding the going tough at the moment and the injuries they have sustained to their key players and also with Matthew Lloyd badly out of form things will be tough this week. The Power on the other hand started poorly and are now gaining a bit of momentum and have been good over the past 2 weeks. Fletcher out is a MASSIVE blow for the Bombers. Kane Cornes is in great touch and Tredders is in some good form.

The inclusion of Daniher will make die hard Bomber fans happy, but it will not be enough to get them over the line here, Port Adelaide will be far to strong. Bigger Bodies and more experience they should actually smash Essendon here.

I would like to give The Demons a bit of a chance against the Dockers this week at the MCG. We all know the Dockers are terrible travelers and if the Demons can catch them napping then they may just be in with a show. Lists are yet to be finalized as this is another Sunday game but the Demons have brought in Whelan, Bate, Garland, Buckley and left out Dunn. For the Fremantle side they have left out Grover (quad), Hayden (hamstring), J.Carr (suspended), Hinkley and brought in Tarrant, Headland, Foster, O’Brien, Warnock, Duffield, Mark Johnson.

Some big ins for the Dockers with Tarrant, Johnson and Headland. Rhys Palmer is in great touch for the Dockers and is showing why the Dockers were so keen to draft him, while Nathan Jones has been the White Knight for the Demons and has been far and away their best so far this year. The Dockers were extremely unlucky last week not to defeat the reigning premier Geelong but that was at home and this is in Melbourne. I still think they will win but the Demons may just be in with a bit of a show.

Probably the most interesting thing about this game will be the Crowd numbers! This could just be the lowest number of people ever to attend an AFL match.

Saturday Night at AAMI Stadium promises to be a belter with the Adelaide Crows hosting the North Melbourne Football Club. Massie, Sellar come in for the Crows and McGregor, Rutten (back) will miss. For the Kangaroos Pratt, Brown, Josh Smith are in while Edwards (broken leg), Sinclair, Sansbury have been left out. The Crows have got back into a bit of form over the last couple of week and last week had convincing five-goal win over the Blues, and the North Melbourne side have been playing some great football but would have been disappointed with the draw last week.

The midfield battle will be a good one and Wells, Harvey, Harding, Rawlings, Simpson will need to be on their game to counter the likes of van Berlo, Thompson, Symes, Porplyzia, Goodwin, Edwards and McLeod. This is were the game will be won. Ben Rutten is a pivotal loss in defense as Nathan Thompson could pose a big threat down in the forward 50. Thomas and Campbell have been great additions down forward and will need to help Thompson out. The Crows think that if they can shut down Harvey then they are on their way to victory so the other mids need to step up to the plate.

Tough one too pick this one, but only because it is at AAMI Stadium I will go with The Crows.

The Bulldogs are going to find it hard to get any space to use their skill and leg speed at The SCG this weekend and will be in for a tough hard physical battle against the Swans. Peter “Spider” Everitt is set to make is return in the ruck along with Brennan, Mathews, Playfair, Smith while Nick Davis’s future hangs in the balance as he has been dropped again while Ablett will miss with a calf.

For the Bullies, no outs as yet but have brought in Skipper, Tiller and Ward to the squad. After being belted in the media for his lack of form Adam Goodes as regained some of it over the last 2 weeks and was great in the drawn game last week and Michael O’Loughlin will again need to lead from the front up forward. They will be doing everything they can to clamp down on the Western Bulldogs running game and playing at the SCG will help that. Cooney, Cross and Akermanis have been in great touch for the Doggies and will be the keys to the game for them. The Dogs haven’t beaten The Swans in 5 games and I think that will continue at the SCG this week. The Swans in a close one by 12 points.

I am disappointed that Freo brought in their dead wood with Johnson, Hedland and Tarrent. Thought Freo were improving and looking good with their young guys, shoul dgive Hinkley, Obrian etc a game instead of these has-beens….
