Is Sam Newman Set To Retire From The Footy Show?
Well we all know how good the guys on The Footy Show are at creating contraversy and turning the show into a ratings hit. This may be just another one of those incidents but nevertheless I know have to watch to find out what all this hoo haa is about. A letter was sent to Channel 9 recommending that the cast of The Footy Show be counseled on their attitude to women by an expert from the office of the federal Anti-Discrimination Commissioner. Now I heard Sam on radio station SEN this morning talking to Francis Leach and David Schwartz.
I’ll be making an announcement tonight on “The Footy Show” and it might please some, but I’ve got a feeling it will not please a lot of others, so I’ll say this before I probably can’t say anything else; it is just an absolute crock of s–t.”
“I’ll point out something tonight which will show you the absolute credibility of these people and one in particular who are driving this, and they’ll be shown up to be seen to what they actually are, which is practicing hypocrites,”
The rumors are flying around at the moment that Sam will announce that he is stepping down from the Footy Show. This may just be another case of them trying to get more ratings but I am going to have to watch it now!

this will be the only reason why i’ll ever watch the footy show … in anticipation of sam calling it quits
On SEN this morning he sounded very emotional and referred to “The OX” as Tim. I think he’s almost ‘lost it’
He wont quite, will just have to apologise.
The show will go even further down hill with him leaving, he is the Footy Show.
Sam, dont apologise, you are quite right. The boys are frocks and probably should wear skirts !!!! This has always been the flow of the show and now chicks are kicking up the boys crumble on you. Stay staunch Sam .
Saw his performance on the show last night and I thought it was exceptionally poor.
@Andrew
Would have to agree with you there, very disappointing.
What excatly was poor about it??
I thought what was poor was that after 15 years of being a jerk, he actually tried to quit. Think about it: He dressed up as a black man, got drunk on the show, been naked several times and did goodness what to various people on street talk….
I would have thought dressing up as a black man warranted more out cry.
As a rugby league/union supporter who enjoys watching the afl as well, i must say that sam newman is the longest running afl-affiliated joke, and deserves to be put down from television like a rabid dog. He’s a bigot and and an embarrassment.
Professional leagues are facing enough discipline issues with their players acting up on the weekend, and shouldn’t have to worry about their off-field ambassadors bringing the game into even more disrepute.
