AFL Hall of Fame Tribute Match
Well I guess this was bound to happen , but I was hoping that it wouldn’t. What am I on about? I am on about the growing list on injuries that will keep “star” players out and also the Clubs waiting to see what others are doing in regards to withdrawing players.
There are a host of players who are really injured and already Dustin Fletcher, Nigel Lappin, Luke Hodge are out of the Victorian line up while Hille, Brad Johnson, David Wirrpanda, Jonathon Brown, Garry Ablett in doubt. While for the Dream Team Chad Cornes, Alywn Davey, Simon Black, Chance Bateman and Adam Hunter are out and Shaun Burgoyne, Dean Cox, Tom Harley, Ben Rutten, Tadhg Kennelly and Darren Glass have got “niggles” that may keep them out. I just hope that the AFL have a consistant stance on players that are pulling out because they are better off having a rest.
The Clubs are hedging their bets at the moment to see how the others are handling these issues. There are already reports out of Adelaide that Port Adelaide players are putting the Club before the Hall of Fame Tribute Match, which is fair enough I guess, but if they are right to play and would be playing if their club was playing then in my opinion they SHOULD be playing in this game, full stop! There are a lot of people looking forward to this contest and is one that you may never see again and it is quickly becoming like other State of Origin games where players, if they have little niggles are going to pull out. You wouldn’t have seen players like Garry Hocking or Robert Harvey pulling out because they had the sniffles.
Don’t get me wrong most of these guys that are out have genuine injuries but it is the ones that have little niggles that would play if their club was playing but will not play in this game that give me the s**ts.
The final squads will be announced on Sunday Night after the Port Adelaide v Essendon game and I have already chosen my first team based on the initial squads and my final team will be coming during the week. Get involved and give me your thoughts on the team and even put in your own team.

The players should have the right to decide whether they play or not. The games a farce anyway….
