Fevola is a “Flawed Genius”
Carlton WILL NOT win an AFL Premiership with Brendan Fevola in the side. That is the view of well respected footballing identity and former Carlton Coach David Parkin. Now this coming from a man that is very highly regarded and respected among the AFL Football world and if you have ever heard him speak you would certainly agree. This is not the first time Brendan Fevola has been in strife with alcohol so why is it that it takes 2, 3, 4 occations for Clubs to realise that there is a problem there that needs to be dealt with?
Surely even after the Ireland incident you could see that there was a problem there that needed to be dealt with. I read with interest that David Parkin feels responsible for not being able to change his behaviour in the early years when he was recruited to the club. Again I go back to the early days of Wayne Carey’s career when the North Melbourne Football Club turned a blind eye to his actions. Now look where he is at. A big question I have of the Carlton Football Club is if this was Mark Austin would this have been the same penalty?. Mind you if it was Mark Austin then this issue would probably not have made news. I just reckon Carlton had a perfect opportunity to set a great example going forward into their new phase of the Club and the have stuffed up.
I think this shows great disrespect for new coach Brett Ratten given that Fevola discussed with Ratten why he should still remain at the club and not be put up a trade bait. Ratten gave him the benefit of the doubt and Fevola stayed with the Blues and as we know Josh Kennedy ended up at the Eagles. The Blues are going to cop some flack over this decision and rightly so…..

Lets add other names besides Carey..
Cousins and Ablett snr.
Alan Aylett was once asked how many GFs Hawks would have won if they kept Ablett. Aylett answered “none”. He then went on to say “Hawks was a team and Gary Ablett was not a team player”. Kinder makes sense when Geelong won no GFs with G ABlett snr playing. There was two sets of rules for G Ablett. I remember hearing some of the different sets of rules from Gary Hocking on the WA ABC radio.
