Will This Guy Ever Play AFL Football Again?
Is Mark Coughlan the unluckiest man in AFL Football at the moment or what? He just can’t take a trick can he!. Coughlan is set to have surgery tomorrow on his knee which he has had reconstructed. Although the Richmond FC is saying that it is not a huge deal, I tend to think any little injury that requires surgery to a guy that hasn’t played since Round 12 2006 is a bit bigger deal than any other player.
“Mark was just doing some light training and goal kicking this morning, just a little bit of twisting and turning, nothing unusual, and it turns out he’s slightly damaged his cartilage,”
If he did this doing the type of training that operations manager Ross Monaghan suggested (above quote) then what does the future hold. Coughlan may just end up as many other have done in the past and not reach his full potential. It is a shame because when he won the Richmond Best and Fairest in 2003 (seems like an eternity ago) he certainly looked the goods!
Let’s hope he gets back quickly from this latest setback and can slot into the Tigers Team in 2009.

He’s on his last go. One more serious injury (or if this one has any complications) and I really don’t think he can make it. Even if he was to get his body right physically, the challenge mentally could well be too much.
Yeah he just can’t seem to get it right can he. He won’t get anywhere near the form that saw him win the B&F so I just don’t think he will be in Richmond’s best side anyway would he?
