The Baby Bombers Mark II
Well there has been a lot of talk around during this pre season about the Bombers and their new coach Matthew Knights. Knights obviously has huge boots to fill and many are expecting the Bombers to battle it out with Richmond and Melbourne for the wooden spoon this year. Actually today they are equal with those 2 teams paying $5 for the Wooden Spoon. I just reckon the Bombers will surprise a few this year, Knights has instilled a higher intensity at training and for a lot of the older players it has brought new found enthusiasm to the group. So much so that “Big Mal” Mal Michael has likened the current playing list to that of the Baby Bombers of 1993. For those that can’t remember I have included a short video at the end of this article (Dean Wallis on Mil Hanna).
Everyone is heaping praise on the way Knights has gone about his business so far during the pre season and the likes of Stanton, Winderlich, Laycock, Ryder and Ricky Dyson are players that are ready to take that next step and become quality AFL Players and I think the Bombers are a much better side than people are giving them credit for. I know they are confident in the list and are certainly aiming at the Top 8.
I am going to venture out and have a look at the Bombers play an intra club practice game on the weekend so I shall report back some news and maybe even some photo’s, so make sure you SUBSCRIBE to AFL Football Blog’s RSS Feed to you don’t miss the action.
